Empty Nest

Last Saturday, the 24th of May, was the first time I noticed a single baby bird poking its head up out of the nest. I didn't see any other and I continued to keep clear of the nest.

Yesterday, the 25th, I looked out of the window several times and, for the first time in a while, I didn't see the mother robin on or near the nest. I didn't see the hatchling, either. That made me worried; I was afraid that despite the so-called maternal instinct something may have caused mama robin to abandon the nest and its occupant.

So today, fearing the worst, I photographed the inside of the nest.

I was never so glad to be wrong about anything.
