You'd think that a bad idea dies when it gets shot down once, but that's not necessarily the case.

In the New York Times of May 19, 2014, there's a review of a new book, "Console Wars," concerning the business end of the feud between Sega and Nintendo during 1990-1995. There's not much about the games per se, but I was stopped cold by this excerpt from the review:

"In other amusing chapters, the American and Japanese divisions of Sega bicker over whether Sonic, the video game hedgehog that a Sega of Japan employee dreamed up by putting the head of Felix the Cat on the body of Mickey Mouse, should have fangs, an electric guitar and a busty human girlfriend. The Americans win and all three elements are stricken."

Let's run down that checklist:

Fangs: "Sonic Unleashed."
An Electric Guitar: "Sonic Underground" TV series.
A Busty Human Girlfriend: Princess Elise, in "Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

Three up, three down. All tried, all died.

And we're supposed to trust Sega's judgment now that they're effectively co-creating the Archie comic books?

You know, I was wondering if you had seen those SatAM preproduction notes that had surfaced recently? With the human Sally? :p
